Public Wholesale Water Supply District No.23
Public Wholesale Water Supply District No. 23 (P.W.W.S.D No. 23) is a regional water utility that treats and delivers potable water to customers in six counties in Southeast Kansas. We deliver water to six cities which include the City of Fredonia, City of Altoona, City of Buffalo, City of Thayer, City of Howard and the City of Galesburg, as well as, seventeen rural water districts including Elk RWD #2, Wilson RWD #1, Wilson RWD #2, Wilson RWD #4, Wilson RWD #5, Wilson RWD #7, Wilson RWD #10, Wilson RWD #11, Wilson RWD #13, Woodson RWD #1, Neosho RWD #4, Neosho RWD #6, Neosho RWD #7, Neosho RWD #9, Neosho RWD #12, Montgomery RWD #9, and Montgomery RWD #12. Our source of water is the Fall River located near Fredonia, Kansas. P.W.W.S.D. No. 23 began operation of our facility on December 1st, 2009. In addition to our 6.0 MGD treatment facility (2019), our system includes almost 200 miles of water mains, four-400,000 gallon water towers, three booster stations and 1.2 million gallons of in ground storage. We serve each customer with its own branch off our mains. Backflow prevention devices between systems ensure safety of all persons served. P.W.W.S.D No.23.
